Camputers Lynx

Camputers Lynx was a British 8-bit home computer launched in 1983 by Camputers Ltd. It featured a Zilog Z80A CPU running at 4 MHz, with 48 KB RAM (expandable up to 192 KB) and a 16–20 KB ROM containing a BASIC interpreter. The Lynx offered high-resolution graphics (256×252 pixels) with 8 colors, driven by a Motorola 6845 video controller, and had basic sound capabilities via a 6-bit DAC.

Designed with modularity and expandability in mind, the Lynx supported memory upgrades and optional CP/M operating system through floppy disk drives on higher-end models. Despite its advanced hardware for the time, it struggled in the competitive market dominated by Sinclair and Commodore due to a limited software library and relatively high price.

Camputers ceased production in 1984 after selling around 30,000 units. The Lynx remains a notable piece of British computing history
