The Compaq Aero 2100 is a color “Palm-size PC” released in January 1999 by Compaq. It features a reflective 240×320 pixel TFT color display and operates on Microsoft’s Palm-size PC 1.2 platform (based on Windows CE 2.x). The unit is powered by an NEC VR4111 (MIPS-based) processor and includes 8 MB of RAM and 12 MB of ROM. It also offers a CompactFlash Type I/II slot and a passive stylus for touchscreen input.
Connectivity options include IrDA infrared, a serial port, and mini headphone jack. The Aero 2100 supports up to 10 hours of battery life via its built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery and includes a backup CR-2032 coin cell battery to retain settings. It comes with built-in applications such as a voice recorder, a document reader, and utilities accessible via the Q-menu system. |
