The Ericsson MC16, also known as the Ericsson MC 16, is a handheld PDA released by Ericsson in the late 1990s. It was essentially a rebranded HP 360LX, featuring the same hardware platform: a monochrome touchscreen with 640×240 resolution, physical keyboard, PCMCIA slot, and serial port.
It ran Microsoft Windows CE 2.0 on an Intel-compatible processor (SH3 CPU running at 60 MHz) with 8 MB of RAM. The device included support for synchronization with PCs and could interface with Ericsson mobile phones via a bundled cable and software package—suggesting a focus on mobile communications.
The unit was compact and lightweight compared to other devices of the era and featured long battery life. Its design and software integration were clearly derived from HP’s 360LX model, simply relabeled for Ericsson’s branding and bundled with phone connectivity options. |
