Headstart Explorer

The HeadStart Explorer was released around 1989 by Vendex, a Dutch company affiliated with Philips. It was produced in South Korea and sold in the Netherlands, the USA (under the Magnavox brand), and possibly Poland.

It is an IBM XT–compatible PC with a hinged, all-in-one design that integrates keyboard, 3.5″ floppy drive, and in some models a 40 MB hard disk.

The machine boots into MS-DOS 3.31 stored in ROM and includes a proprietary Explorer GUI in ROM that provides applications like text editor, database, organizer, calculator, phone book, and a DOS launcher.

Graphics support includes CGA and Hercules-compatible modes. Expansion is limited to a single internal 8-bit ISA slot. It was typically bundled with a proprietary mouse, monitor, and stand, allowing it to form a self-contained workstation.
