| The Poqet Pad, introduced in 1991, was Fujitsu’s first pen-based tablet computer running MS-DOS. It featured a touchscreen interface operated with a stylus and was designed for portability and long battery life. It used an NEC V20-compatible CPU at 7 MHz and came with 640 KB of RAM. The display was a monochrome touchscreen with a resolution of 640×200 and support for four grey levels. Two PCMCIA Type II slots were included for memory expansion or peripherals. The system ran MS-DOS 3.3 and supported handwriting recognition via the Nestor PenShell interface. It operated on two AA batteries and included a CR2032 coin cell for memory backup. Though not widely adopted, the Poqet Pad is notable as one of the earliest MS-DOS tablets with pen input, bridging the gap between palmtop PCs and modern tablets. | |||||
