Psion Series 3

The Psion Series 3, introduced in 1991, was a compact personal digital assistant (PDA) developed by British company Psion. Housed in a small clamshell case with a physical keyboard and monochrome LCD screen, it offered mobile computing capabilities well ahead of its time.

Running Psion’s own multitasking operating system, the device included a suite of built-in applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, and diary functions. It supported solid-state storage cards and could be connected to a PC for synchronization and file transfer.

Designed primarily for professionals and advanced users, the Series 3 stood out for its reliability, long battery life, and efficient software. Several variants followed, including the Series 3a and 3c, which offered incremental improvements in memory, display, and connectivity.

Though small in size, the Series 3 played a significant role in shaping the PDA market and remains a landmark in mobile computing history.
