| The GP32 (GamePark 32) is a sixth-generation handheld game console developed by the South Korean company Game Park. It was first released on November 23, 2001, initially in South Korea and later (around June 2004) in select European markets including Portugal, Spain, Italy, the UK, and Sweden. It sold approximately 30,000 to 32,000 units before being discontinued in 2005. Internally, the GP32 sports a 133 MHz ARM9 (Samsung S3C2400X01) CPU, 8 MB SDRAM, and 512 KB ROM. It features a 3.5‑inch reflective TFT screen with a resolution of 320×240 pixels and support for 65,536 colours. The device uses SmartMedia cards (up to 128 MB) for storage, enabling easy distribution of commercial titles and extensive homebrew development. It includes a USB 1.1 port, a serial expansion port, headphone output, stereo speakers, and accepts power via two AA batteries or an external adapter. Control-wise, the handheld has an eight-way microswitch joystick, two face buttons (A/B), two shoulder buttons per side, and menu buttons (Start/Select). It also supports wireless multiplayer through an optional RF module connecting up to four units at roughly a 10 m range. |
