Nintendo Game Boy Color

The Nintendo Game Boy Color is an 8-bit handheld gaming console developed and manufactured by Nintendo. It was released on October 21, 1998, in Japan, and in North America and Europe in November 1998. The Game Boy Color is the successor to the original Game Boy and the first handheld console in the Game Boy family to feature a color screen.

The device is powered by a custom Sharp SM83 processor running at 4.2 MHz, with 32 KB of RAM and 16 KB of video RAM. It features a 2.6-inch reflective TFT LCD display with a resolution of 160×144 pixels, capable of displaying up to 56 colors simultaneously from a palette of 32,768 colors.

The Game Boy Color is backward compatible with original Game Boy games, allowing them to be played with enhanced color palettes. It also introduced new Game Boy Color-specific titles that took full advantage of the color display. The console is powered by two AA batteries, providing approximately 10 hours of gameplay.
