Ormatu Video Spelcomputer 2001

The Ormatu Video Spelcomputer 2001 is a Dutch variant of the Emerson Arcadia 2001 family of second-generation cartridge-based video game consoles, released circa 1982 by Ormatu Electronics BV. It is built on the Signetics 2650A CPU with a dedicated Signetics 2637 for video and audio processing, offering a color palette of eight and graphical resolution modes of 128×208 and 128×104 pixels.

This console uses the Arcadia 2001-compatible cartridge slot and supports a library of titles also found across other regional variants, including games like Soccer, Breakaway, Space Raiders, Auto Race, Baseball, Bowling, Boxing, Crazy Climber, and others—typically around 20 or more games were released for the Ormatu version.

The hardware features two detachable joysticks that incorporate a 12-button keypad and fire buttons, as well as an on/off switch on the console. It connects to a TV via RF output and is powered through an external adapter.

As an Arcadia 2001 clone, it shares full software compatibility within the “Ormatu” subgroup of consoles, although cartridge shape may differ slightly from other clones. Production was relatively limited, and the Ormatu 2001 is now considered a niche item among retro collectors.
