Sega Mega Drive Mini

The Sega Mega Drive Mini is a dedicated plug-and-play console released by Sega in 2019, designed to replicate the original 16-bit Mega Drive system in a smaller, modern format. It was developed in collaboration with M2, known for its high-quality emulation work, and includes a curated library of built-in games.

The console features a high-fidelity emulation engine and outputs video via HDMI, supporting modern display standards while maintaining the original look and feel of classic games. It comes with one or two USB replica controllers depending on the region, modeled after the original three-button design, though some regions received six-button versions.

The game library varies slightly by region but generally includes a mix of well-known Sega titles such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage II, and Ecco the Dolphin, along with deeper cuts and third-party entries. The Mega Drive Mini was praised for its build quality, software interface, and faithful emulation.
