| The Atari 400 Mini is a half-scale modern recreation of the Atari 400 home computer, released by Retro Games Ltd in March 2024. It emulates the entire Atari 8-bit family—including the 400/800, XL/XE lines, and 5200—using an Allwinner ARM-based SoC with HDMI 720p video output, USB-C power, and five USB-A ports for controllers, keyboards, or storage. Included are 25 built-in games spanning classic titles like Asteroids, Millipede, Miner 2049er, M.U.L.E., BattleZone, Centipede, and Berzerk. Users can also load additional games or disk images via USB, run BASIC, manage save states (up to four slots), and rewind up to 30 seconds mid-game. Display options include pixel-perfect mode, CRT-style scanlines, and themed borders. The console features a decorative non-functional membrane keyboard and cartridge slot for authenticity, along with a USB replica of the classic Atari CX-40 joystick called the CXStick. |
