Kat Trap: Planet of the Cat-Men is an action-packed shooter developed by Design Design and published by Bug-Byte Software Ltd. for the Amstrad CPC in 1987. The game is set in the 24th century, where Earth has been abandoned by humans due to devastating solar explosions. The planet is now inhabited by a hostile alien race known as the Kat Men. When the solar storms subside, humans decide to return to reclaim their home, only to find it occupied by the Kat Men.
Players control MT-ED (Multi Terrain Exploration Droid), a war droid sent to Earth to deal with the Kat Men and rescue Hercules 1, a maintenance and combat droid who has been kidnapped. The game features 14 environments, each filled with deadly creatures that require different weapons to defeat. Players can collect various weapons, including lasers, water bombs, grenades, and rockets, and switch between them as needed. The gameplay involves exploring these environments, battling enemies, and completing a sub-game to disable the Kat Men’s Central Computer and restore peace to Earth.
The game was well-received for its engaging gameplay and challenging levels, offering a unique blend of action and strategy.
