Publisher: Ricochet
Year: 1987

Nightshade is a classic isometric-scrolling action-adventure game where you play as a knight on a quest to defeat four powerful villains—a mad monk, skeleton, ghost, and the Grim Reaper—by finding and using the correct special weapons for each. The game presents a plague-ridden medieval town filled with roaming monsters that change color as they damage you, and houses that lift their roofs to allow full, unobstructed view when entered. Gameplay involves collecting and throwing various objects (such as hammers, crucifixes, books, hourglasses) and avoiding being overwhelmed. Originally released by Ultimate Play the Game in 1985, it received a budget re-release in 1987 under the Ricochet label by Mastertronic for the Amstrad CPC, maintaining its cinematic Filmation II engine and immersive, challenging gameplay.
