Salamander

Genre: Action, Shoot-’em-up
Publisher: The Hit Squad
Year: 1990
System: Amstrad CPC

Salamander, released under the Imagine Software label in 1988, is a fast-paced, side- and vertically-scrolling shoot-’em-up, re-released as a budget title by The Hit Squad in 1990 on the Amstrad CPC. Players pilot a spacecraft through six intense levels, alternating between horizontal and vertical perspectives, each culminating in a challenging boss battle. During the action, enemies drop power-ups that upgrade weapons—such as lasers, missiles, speed boosts, shields, and “options” (satellite helpers)—enhancing firepower and survival capabilities. The game supports two-player simultaneous play, making it a thrilling cooperative experience.
