Saracen

Genre: Action, Puzzle
Publisher: Americana Software
Year: 1987
System: Amstrad CPC

Saracen is a compelling action-puzzle game set across 100 maze-like levels, where you control a crusader on a mission to defeat the Saracen Chief by detonating a bomb beside him. Navigating each side-view stage requires careful planning to avoid roaming guards, bouncing cannonballs, and other traps while managing limited equipment: a single collectible item—either a key, directional arrow, or bomb—can be carried at a time. Directional arrows, fired in one of the four compass directions, are essential for stopping guards and breaking walls, adding a clever strategic layer. With typically only one path to success per level, the game demands thoughtful puzzle-solving under pressure. Ported to the Amstrad CPC by Paragon Programming, it was issued as a budget re-release by Americana Software in 1987, making this challenging title more accessible to CPC owners
