Silkworm is a fast-paced, horizontally-scrolling shoot-’em-up featuring two-player cooperative gameplay: one player pilots a helicopter, the other controls a ground-based jeep. Players must work together to combat enemy forces, survive waves of attackers, and defeat periodic mini-bosses—like the “goose” helicopter—which drop powerful weapon upgrades when destroyed. Power-ups include enhanced guns, missiles, shields, and speed boosts, adding strategic depth to the arcade action. The Amstrad CPC version, ported in 1989 and budget-released by Mastertronic Plus in 1991, faithfully reproduces the arcade experience within the limitations of the platform,
