Solomon’s Key

Genre: Puzzle
Publisher: Kixx
Year: 1989
System: Amstrad CPC

Solomon’s Key is a clever and challenging platform-puzzle game where players take on the role of Dana, a young alchemist tasked with retrieving keys and escaping from increasingly complex rooms. Each screen-based level requires Dana to use a magic wand to strategically create and destroy blocks, forming paths, trapping enemies, or safely reaching the exit—all within a tight time limit. Enemies include ogres, electric orbs, and dragons, each requiring unique tactics such as block manipulation or fireball spells to defeat. Power-ups scattered throughout the 64-room game grant additional blocks, new spells, extra lives, and access to hidden bonus rooms. The final secret rooms and true ending are unlocked by gathering Zodiac seals, adding depth and replayability to the experience.

The CPC version was ported by Probe Software and published by U.S. Gold in 1987, later reissued as a budget edition by Kixx in 1989
