Description
Jungle Hunt is a side-scrolling action game where you play as an intrepid explorer on a daring jungle rescue mission. The game is divided into four distinct stages, each presenting a unique challenge. In the first, you swing from vine to vine across a dangerous jungle canopy, timing your jumps to avoid falling. Next, you dive into crocodile-infested waters, using a knife to fend off threats while managing your breath underwater.
The third stage features a steep mountainside where you must dodge rolling boulders that accelerate as they descend. Finally, you arrive at the enemy camp to save your kidnapped partner from a tribe of cannibals before time runs out. Each level increases in difficulty as the game progresses, requiring quick reflexes and precise timing.
Originally an arcade title from Taito, Jungle Hunt was ported to the Apple II by Atarisoft. Despite the hardware limitations of the time, the game captures the excitement of the arcade version, offering varied gameplay and a strong sense of adventure. Its multi-stage structure and fast pace helped it stand out among early home computer action games.
