Video-Bowling

Genre: Sports (Bowling)
Developer: Palladium
Publisher: Palladium
Year: 1978
Platform: Palladium Video Computer Game

Video-Bowling is a bowling simulation released for the Palladium Video Computer Game, a German console compatible with the Emerson Arcadia 2001 family of systems. The game was part of Palladium’s localized catalog, where many titles were renamed and distributed specifically for the German market.

The gameplay recreates a simplified form of ten-pin bowling. Players control the movement and release of a ball, attempting to knock down as many pins as possible. As with many early sports adaptations, the mechanics rely on timing and positioning, rather than realistic physics, with the visual presentation limited to blocky, stylized graphics.

Like other Palladium releases, Video-Bowling was designed primarily for multiplayer competition. Two players could take turns in standard bowling frames, while the straightforward control scheme allowed for accessible play. The game fits into the era’s trend of adapting popular sports for home consoles, where bowling was a common theme across many platforms, from Pong-style consoles to more advanced programmable systems.
