Video-Mühle

Genre: Board / Strategy
Developer: Palladium
Publisher: Palladium
Year: 1978
Platform: Palladium Video Computer Game

Video-Mühle is a digital adaptation of the traditional board game Nine Men’s Morris, released for the Palladium Video Computer Game, a German clone of the Emerson Arcadia 2001. The game was part of Palladium’s strategy to offer classic tabletop games on early home consoles, appealing to both children and adults.

The gameplay replicates the core mechanics of Nine Men’s Morris. Players take turns placing and moving pieces on a grid with the objective of forming mills—lines of three pieces—to remove opponent pieces from the board. Victory is achieved by leaving the opponent with insufficient moves or pieces.

Graphics are minimal, reflecting the limitations of the Arcadia 2001 hardware. The board and pieces are represented by simple blocks or shapes, and the interface is designed to clearly indicate legal moves. Audio cues are limited to basic tones signaling actions or invalid moves.
