Description:
3‑D Tic‑Tac‑Toe for the Atari 8‑bit family, designed by Carol Shaw and released in 1980, is a three-dimensional variant of traditional Tic-Tac-Toe. The game is played on a 4×4×4 grid where the objective is to align four marks in a row—horizontally, vertically, or diagonally across any axis. It includes nine gameplay modes: eight single-player levels offering varying AI difficulty and a two-player mode. Navigation and move input are handled via keyboard or joystick, guided by on-screen coordinate indicators. Implemented in BASIC, the game displays the 3-D grid in oblique perspective and momentarily blanks the screen during computer turns to allocate processing power. It supports both one-player and alternating two-player sessions, and is distributed on cartridge.
