Description:
Astro Chase is a multidirectional shooter developed by Fernando Herrera and released by Parker Brothers in 1983 for the Atari 8-bit family. The game tasks players with defending Earth from an alien force by destroying approaching Mega-Mines. Players pilot a spaceship equipped with lasers and shields, navigating through space to intercept and eliminate the threats before they reach the planet.

The gameplay is level-based, with a total of 36 levels, each increasing in difficulty. As players progress, they encounter a variety of enemy attack ships with different speeds and offensive capabilities. Shield depots scattered throughout space provide temporary invincibility, while energy generators offer power-ups to sustain the player’s ship.

Astro Chase was initially released by First Star Software in 1982 for the Atari 8-bit computers in tape and disk formats. Parker Brothers later licensed the game, releasing it on cartridge for the Atari 8-bit systems and Atari 5200 console in 1983. An arcade version was also developed by Exidy for its Max-A-Flex cabinet, featuring a 600XL or 800XL system inside an arcade machine.
