Description:
AtariArtist is a graphics and drawing application released by Atari in 1983 for the Atari 8-bit family. Delivered on a ROM cartridge (serial RX8053), the software was bundled with the CX‑77 Touch Tablet, a dedicated stylus-based drawing tablet. The program offers an integrated graphical environment allowing users to draw, select colors from the Atari’s palette, and manage on-screen artwork. It features basic tools such as pencil, shapes, fill, and an undo function. The two-pass drawing system provides a layered approach to image creation. Output can be saved to disk or embedded within Atari BASIC programs through data statements. Developed by Steve Dompier and Robert Leyland under Island Graphics, AtariArtist provides one of the earliest pen-input painting solutions on home computers.
