Genre: Action / Shooter
Publisher: Atari, Inc.
Year: 1987
System: Atari 8-bit

Desert Falcon is an isometric scrolling shooter set in ancient Egypt, where the player controls a falcon on a mission to plunder pharaohs’ tombs while avoiding dangers and enemy forces. The main objective is to collect treasures and defeat mythical guardians across multiple desert landscapes.

The game features diagonal scrolling and pseudo-3D graphics, which were notable for the time. Players navigate their falcon over dunes, pyramids, and oases while dodging or shooting various enemies such as sphinxes, vultures, and fireballs. Collecting hieroglyphs in specific combinations unlocks special powers like invincibility, teleportation, or smart bombs.

The Atari 8-bit version maintains much of the arcade-style action, combining fast-paced gameplay with strategic item collection. Each level culminates in a confrontation with the “Great Sphinx,” and difficulty increases progressively with faster enemies and more hazards.
