King Size is a compilation of 50 small games released by Robtek for the Atari 8‑bit computers in 1986. Packaged on tape, the collection gathers an eclectic mix of action, strategy, puzzle, arcade, and educational titles originally created as type‑in BASIC programs or magazine listings, later assembled into this commercial release. Although most games credit SOS Software in their startup screens, Robtek functioned as the commercial publisher of this compilation.
The tape is divided into multiple segments (Side A through Side D), each containing around a dozen programs. The titles include games like Birds, Goldhunter, Oil Rig, Space Attack, Bomb Escape, Backgammon, Missile Defence, and Mastermind. These programs were written in Atari BASIC and loaded directly from tape using the commands CLOAD and RUN.
This compilation reflects an era of home computing where hobbyist and semi-professional developers distributed software via broadcasts, magazines, or user groups. King Size offers a snapshot of that DIY spirit, preserving a variety of modest yet functional Atari 8‑bit BASIC games in a single taped package.
