The Activision Decathlon is a sports video game developed by David Crane and released by Activision in 1983 for the Atari 8-bit family. The game simulates the ten events of a decathlon: 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400-meter race, 110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, and 1500-meter race. Players compete in these events, aiming to achieve the highest total score. The gameplay involves rapidly moving the joystick to simulate running and timing button presses for jumping and throwing events. The Atari 8-bit version supports up to four players in sequence and was released on cassette, disk, and cartridge formats. Activision offered rewards for high scores, including bronze, silver, and gold patches for achieving 8,600, 9,000, and 10,000 points, respectively.
