Thrust is a multidirectional shooter developed by Jeremy C. Smith and published by Firebird Software in 1986. The player pilots a spacecraft through a series of underground caverns on hostile planets, aiming to retrieve a power orb called a Klystron Pod and escape safely.

The gameplay is heavily physics-based, incorporating gravity, inertia, and rotation. The spacecraft must be carefully maneuvered using thrust and rotational controls to avoid crashing into cave walls or being hit by enemy turrets. A tractor beam is used to collect fuel and tow the Klystron Pod, which adds complexity to movement due to its swinging motion and added mass.

Levels become progressively more difficult, with added hazards such as reverse gravity, invisible walls, and tighter passageways. Players must also manage limited fuel supplies while avoiding destruction. Successfully completing all levels triggers a looping mode with increased difficulty.
