Thunderfox is an action shooter released for the Atari 8-bit family in 1987, developed by Aztec Design and published by Atari Corporation. The game draws inspiration from the classic Uridium, offering fast-paced, side-view shooting gameplay.
Players pilot a spacecraft called Thunderfox over a massive alien transporter carrying critical Disilicate energy crystals destined for a powerful war engine. The objective is to destroy these crystals and eliminate the heavily guarded power rooms to prevent a death missile launch. As the craft flies along the transporter’s surface, players must contend with swarms of enemy ships and defense lasers.
The level features an automatic patrol reversal at the transporter’s end if the crystals remain intact. A time pressure mechanism is built in: failure to destroy the crystals in time triggers the missile launch, which will destroy the Thunderfox
