Joust for the Atari Lynx is a handheld adaptation of the classic arcade game originally developed by Williams Electronics in 1982. The game maintains the core gameplay of its predecessor, where players control a knight mounted on a flying ostrich, battling enemy knights riding buzzards across a series of platforms.
The gameplay involves flapping to gain altitude and strategically landing higher than opponents to defeat them. Defeated enemies drop eggs that must be collected before they hatch into more formidable foes. The Lynx version replicates the fast-paced action and adds a cooperative two-player mode using the handheld’s ComLynx system.
Despite being a late release on the system, Joust brings authentic arcade-style gameplay to a portable format, retaining both the charm and difficulty of the original.
