Combat Course is a boot-camp style action-simulation game developed by Hitech Productions (credited to Cobra Soft) and published by Mindscape for the Atari ST in 1989. The player progresses through a structured five-stage military training course designed to test physical agility, marksmanship, and combat skills.
Stage one is the Physical Course, featuring hurdles, trenches, and barbed wire that require precise jumps, crawls, and timing. Stage two, the Risk Course, focuses on demolitions and grenade throws. Stage three simulates close-quarters combat scenarios involving hand-to-hand fighting. Stage four combines elements from the first three courses into an integrated challenge, while the fifth stage—the Cobra Course—randomizes obstacles drawn from all previous stages.
A standout feature is its course designer, which allows players to create and customize their own obstacle sequences for added replayability. Combat Course includes digitized sound effects on the Atari ST (as well as Amiga versions).
