Outlaw is a Western-themed shooting game released in 1978 for the Atari VCS. The game features both single-player and multiplayer modes. In single-player mode, the player attempts to hit a moving target as many times as possible within a 99-second time limit. In multiplayer mode, two players compete to hit each other ten times first.

The game includes several variations that introduce obstacles such as cacti and moving wagons, as well as effects like bouncing bullets. These variations increase complexity and provide different challenges for each play session.

Graphically, the game uses simple sprites and a minimalist background to create a Western atmosphere. Sound effects are limited to basic tones indicating hits and other in-game events.
