Genre: Action / Maze Shooter
Developer: Stern Electronics
Publisher: CBS Electronics
Year: 1983
Platform: ColecoVision

Frenzy is an action maze shooter developed by Stern Electronics and published by CBS Electronics for the ColecoVision console in 1983. It is the sequel to the arcade game Berzerk and follows a similar premise, with players navigating maze-like rooms filled with hostile robots while avoiding deadly electrified walls.

The gameplay involves moving through procedurally generated mazes, shooting enemy robots, and escaping rooms before being trapped or destroyed. Frenzy introduces additional enemy types, including “Evil Otto,” a relentless bouncing smiley face that chases players to increase the pressure and intensity. Players must balance offense and evasion to survive increasingly difficult rooms.

Graphically, Frenzy maintains the simple, vector-like graphics style of its arcade predecessor, adapted for the ColecoVision’s color display. The game features distinctive sound effects that enhance the tense atmosphere, including robotic voices and alarms.
