Genre: Run and Gun / Action
Developer: Taito
Publisher: Coleco
Year: 1983
Platform: ColecoVision

Front Line is a run and gun action game developed by Taito and published by Coleco for the ColecoVision console in 1983. It is a home adaptation of Taito’s 1982 arcade game of the same name, which is considered one of the early entries in the run-and-gun shooter genre. Players control a soldier who must navigate through enemy territory, eliminating opposition forces and capturing enemy bunkers.

The gameplay features both on-foot combat and vehicle sections where the player commandeers a tank. Players must shoot enemies, avoid incoming fire, and strategically use the tank to advance through multiple stages. Each level increases in difficulty with more aggressive enemy tactics and complex layouts.

Graphically, the ColecoVision version adapts the arcade’s visuals with colorful sprites and detailed backgrounds appropriate for the system’s capabilities. Sound effects include gunfire and explosions, adding to the immersive combat experience.
