Boxing is a sports video game where two contenders face off in a simulated boxing match lasting up to fifteen rounds. Each boxer can throw different types of punches—feints, head shots, chest shots, and stomach shots—and can duck or pull punches. Players choose between six boxers, each with unique attributes.
At the start of a match the player also selects a fighting speed via numeric keypad inputs or the directional disc. Controls allow for use of both arms separately. Gameplay involves landing punches for points or achieving a knockout. If no knockout occurs by the end of round fifteen, the boxer with the most cumulative points wins.
There is a brief delay after heavy hits or knockdowns; a boxer must rise within ten seconds or lose. There is also the rare possibility of a double knockdown or draw under certain circumstances.
