Dragonfire is an action game developed and published by Imagic, originally for the Atari 2600 in 1982 and subsequently released for the Intellivision in 1983. The player assumes the role of a prince who must recover treasures from a castle guarded by a fire-breathing dragon. Gameplay unfolds across two alternating stages that repeat with increasing difficulty.

In the first stage, the player navigates across a drawbridge suspended over a moat. Fireballs are launched from the castle towers at varying heights, requiring the prince to duck, jump, or time movement precisely to avoid being hit. In some instances, players may even perform a jump-and-crouch maneuver to pass between both high and low fireballs simultaneously.

Upon reaching the castle interior, the second stage commences with a top-down view. The prince must collect all treasure items scattered across the room while avoiding fireballs emitted by the dragon patrolling near the bottom. Successfully retrieving all treasures opens a door, allowing the player to proceed to the next level.

As levels progress, the fireballs grow faster, and additional obstacles appear—such as archers firing arrows in the first stage or roaming troll enemies in the second—requiring faster reflexes and strategic positioning. The cycle of alternating stages continues, each time with heightened challenge and speed.
