Sub Hunt is a submarine simulation game released for the Intellivision in 1982. Developed by APh Technological Consulting and published by Mattel Electronics, the game challenges players to defend their home island from an impending enemy invasion by intercepting and destroying convoys at sea.

In the game, players control a fleet of four submarines, deploying them strategically to intercept six incoming convoys. Each convoy consists of six ships, and players must sink all ships in a convoy to prevent them from reaching the enemy’s staging harbor. If enough convoys reach the harbor, the enemy launches an invasion fleet, which the player must also stop to prevent the game from ending.

The gameplay is divided into two modes: deployment and battle. In deployment mode, players position their submarines on a map to intercept convoys. In battle mode, players engage in combat using a periscope view, controlling the submarine’s depth, speed, and rudder to avoid detection and launch torpedo attacks. The game includes various difficulty levels, with higher levels introducing additional enemy destroyers and more challenging conditions.

Sub Hunt was notable for its strategic gameplay and the use of a periscope interface, providing an immersive submarine combat experience. The game was well-received for its depth and realism, contributing to its popularity among Intellivision titles.
