World Cup Soccer is a soccer video game released for the Intellivision in 1985. Initially developed by Mattel Electronics, the game was left incomplete due to the company’s closure in 1984. Subsequently, the rights to the game were acquired by Nice Ideas, a company formed from Mattel’s French office. Nice Ideas completed the game, which was then published in Europe by Dextel Ltd.

The game features one or two-player modes, allowing players to engage in soccer matches either cooperatively or competitively. It offers various gameplay options, including different skill levels and match durations, providing a dynamic soccer experience on the Intellivision platform.

World Cup Soccer stands out as one of the few titles to utilize the Intellivision’s Entertainment Computer System (ECS) peripheral, enabling enhanced graphics and additional gameplay features. This integration showcases the versatility and capabilities of the Intellivision hardware.
