Ace Combat: Assault Horizon

Genre: Combat flight simulator
Developer: Project Aces
Publisher: Namco Bandai Games
Year: 2011

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is a modernized entry in the long-running Ace Combat series, released for Xbox 360 in 2011. Developed by Project Aces and published by Namco Bandai Games, the game shifts away from the fictional settings of previous titles in favor of real-world locations such as Miami, Dubai, and Moscow.

The Xbox 360 version introduces new gameplay elements like “Close-Range Assault” (CRA), which places players into intense dogfighting scenarios with cinematic camera angles and scripted sequences. Players take control of various aircraft, including jets, helicopters, and bombers, across a variety of mission types involving air-to-air and air-to-ground combat.

The game features a narrative-driven single-player campaign following a multinational military force combating a global insurgent threat. It also includes competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes with progression systems and aircraft customization options.

While retaining arcade-style controls, Assault Horizon integrates more realistic damage effects and mission variety, offering a hybrid experience between arcade and simulation gameplay tailored for console players.
