Hitman Absolution is the fifth entry in the long-running Hitman series, offering a blend of stealth, strategy, and action. The game follows Agent 47 as he embarks on a personal mission to protect a mysterious girl, all while being pursued by former allies and powerful enemies. Set across a variety of detailed environments, players must use disguise, improvised weapons, and tactical planning to eliminate targets and avoid detection.
The game introduces the “Instinct” mechanic, which highlights enemy movements and interactive elements in the environment. In contrast to earlier titles in the series, Absolution places a stronger emphasis on narrative and cinematic presentation, with linear mission structures alongside more open-ended assassination scenarios. The “Contracts” mode allows players to create and share custom assassination challenges with others.
The Xbox 360 version spans two discs: one used for a mandatory installation and the other for playing the game. It features enhanced lighting and animation thanks to the Glacier 2 engine, offering a significant leap in visual fidelity compared to earlier titles.
