Skylanders: Imaginators

Genre: Action / Toys-to-Life Platformer
Developer: Toys for Bob
Publisher: Activision
Year: 2016
Platform: Xbox 360

Skylanders: Imaginators is the sixth main installment in the Skylanders franchise, developed by Toys for Bob and released in 2016 for multiple platforms including Xbox 360. The game builds on the toys-to-life formula by introducing a powerful new feature: the ability for players to create their own custom Skylanders, known as Imaginators.

Players can design their Imaginators using elemental Creation Crystals, choosing from a wide variety of body parts, weapons, voices, and animations. In addition to the new custom characters, the game introduces Sensei Skylanders—predefined characters that serve as mentors and unlock special abilities and new areas within the game. Ten different battle classes such as Knight, Brawler, and Sorcerer are used to define each Imaginator’s fighting style.

The Xbox 360 version includes the full story campaign, local co-op play, and support for previously released Skylanders figures. While all older figures are compatible, the new gameplay systems emphasize the use of Imaginators and Senseis, which are better suited for high-difficulty levels and unlock exclusive content.

Upon release, the game received generally favorable reviews. Critics praised the creativity of the character creation system, the visual design, and the depth added by the Senseis, although some noted that older figures felt less relevant in this installment.
