Gears of War 4 is a third-person shooter developed by The Coalition and published by Microsoft Studios. Released for Xbox One in 2016, it continues the popular Gears of War franchise with a new generation of characters set 25 years after the events of the original trilogy.
Players control JD Fenix, son of original protagonist Marcus Fenix, along with his friends Kait Diaz and Del Walker. The story follows their fight against a new enemy known as the Swarm, emerging from beneath the surface of the planet Sera.
Gameplay retains the series’ signature cover-based shooting mechanics, featuring a mix of ranged and melee combat. Players can use an array of weapons, vehicles, and tactical abilities across story missions and various multiplayer modes.
Gears of War 4 includes a single-player campaign, cooperative play, and competitive multiplayer modes. The Xbox One version supports 4K resolution on Xbox One X and benefits from enhancements in graphics, performance, and load times.
