Metal Gear Survive is an action-adventure survival game developed and published by Konami. Released for Xbox One in 2018, it is a spin-off of the Metal Gear series and the first entry after the departure of series creator Hideo Kojima.
Set in an alternate timeline following the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the game begins when a mysterious wormhole transports soldiers from their base to a parallel dimension filled with hostile creatures known as the Wanderers. Players assume the role of a customizable soldier tasked with surviving this new world by gathering resources, crafting weapons, and building defenses.
The gameplay emphasizes survival mechanics such as managing hunger, thirst, and stamina, alongside traditional combat involving firearms and melee weapons. Players can team up with others in cooperative multiplayer modes or face challenges in single-player missions.
Metal Gear Survive features base-building elements, exploration of procedurally generated environments, and a storyline delivered through mission-based progression. The Xbox One version includes all post-launch updates and downloadable content released during the game’s lifecycle.
