Genre: Sports management
Developer: Gusto Games
Publisher: Eidos Interactive
Year: 2005
System: Microsoft Xbox

Championship Manager 5 is a football management simulation game released in 2005 for PC, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. Developed by Beautiful Game Studios for the PC and Gusto Games for the console versions, it marked a significant shift in the Championship Manager series due to the departure of the original developer, Sports Interactive.

The game offers players the opportunity to manage a football club, handling tasks such as transfers, tactics, and match preparation. It features a 2D match engine, a new training system, and a tactical interface that allows for detailed team management. The console versions were scaled-down adaptations of the PC version, developed by Gusto Games.

Upon release, Championship Manager 5 faced criticism for numerous bugs and an unrealistic match engine. Despite a patch for the PC version released on launch day, many users found the game unplayable. The player database, which had previously been a strength of the series, was also criticized for its inaccuracies. Additionally, features like multiplayer modes were missing or underdeveloped, leading to a mixed reception from both critics and players.
