Crash Tag Team Racing is a kart racing game developed by Radical Entertainment and published by Vivendi Universal Games. Released in 2005 for Xbox (alongside PlayStation 2, GameCube, and PSP), the game blends high-speed kart racing with platforming and combat mechanics set in an amusement park-themed world.
Players can switch between racing and on-foot exploration in Adventure mode, collecting gems, coins, and unlocking new tracks and karts. During races, the unique “clashing” feature allows two vehicles to merge, forming a turbocharged fusion car with a mounted turret—one player drives while the other mans the turret. Additional modes include Time Trial, Arcade, Battle Arena, and local split-screen multiplayer for up to four players.
Critics offered mixed reviews: the vibrant visuals, soundtrack, and innovative clashing mechanic received praise, while rubber-band AI, inconsistent controls, and short single-player campaign were common criticisms. The Xbox version holds a Metacritic score of 69, based on 17 critic reviews.
