Dead to Rights is a third-person action shooter developed by Namco Hometek and released for the Xbox in 2002. The game follows Jack Slate, a police officer seeking justice in a corrupt city, accompanied by his canine partner, Shadow. The Xbox version features a cinematic storyline, combining gunplay, hand-to-hand combat, and stealth mechanics.

The gameplay mixes traditional shooting with melee combat and contextual moves, such as disarming enemies or using Shadow to attack or distract foes. Players navigate through urban environments including streets, warehouses, and underground tunnels, facing off against gangs and corrupt officials. The dog companion plays an active role, able to attack enemies, retrieve items, or perform stealth takedowns.

Dead to Rights supports single-player only and delivers a narrative-driven experience with cutscenes and voice acting. The Xbox version offers improved graphics and sound compared to its PlayStation 2 and GameCube counterparts, with higher resolution textures and more detailed character models. Controls are designed to switch fluidly between shooting and close combat.

The game received generally favorable reviews, praised for its engaging story, varied combat mechanics, and the unique inclusion of a dog companion. Some criticism was directed at occasional camera issues and linear level design, but overall it was regarded as a strong entry in the action genre on Xbox.
