Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude – Uncut is a comedic adventure game developed by High Voltage Software and published by Vivendi Universal Games. Released for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and Windows in 2004, this title marked a major departure from earlier entries in the Leisure Suit Larry series by introducing a new protagonist and transitioning to a 3D game engine.
The game follows Larry Lovage, nephew of series original Larry Laffer, as he attempts to win a spot on a fictional dating show. Gameplay is built around exploring a college campus and participating in a variety of mini-games designed to simulate flirtation, competition, and interaction with female characters. These include rhythm games, reflex tests, and other challenges, each contributing to Larry’s reputation and progress.
The “Uncut” version of the game includes more mature content than the standard retail release, though the Xbox version remains toned down due to platform content guidelines. It still retains much of the series’ trademark suggestive humor and over-the-top style, with cel-shaded visuals and exaggerated character designs.
Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude received mixed reviews, with some noting its humor and variety of gameplay modes, but others criticizing repetitive mini-games and lack of depth. The Xbox version holds a Metacritic score of 58/100.
