The game continues the story of Ryo Hazuki as he pursues his father’s killer, exploring richly detailed open-world environments inspired by 1980s Japan and China. Gameplay combines exploration, combat, quick-time events, and various side activities, including mini-games and martial arts training.

The Xbox version features enhanced graphics, improved loading times, and additional side missions not present in the Dreamcast release. It also includes slight gameplay refinements and extra content, offering a more polished experience.
