Sid Meier’s Pirates! is an action and strategy game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. Originally released for PC in 2004, the game was adapted for Xbox in 2005 under the extended title Sid Meier’s Pirates!: Live the Life. It is a reimagining of the classic 1987 title, combining open-world exploration, naval combat, and role-playing elements.

Set during the 17th century in the Caribbean, players assume the role of a privateer seeking fortune and revenge. Gameplay is divided into multiple components, including ship-to-ship combat, sword fighting, trade, and diplomacy. Players can engage with colonial powers, hunt down rivals, search for buried treasure, and build their reputation across the Spanish Main.

The Xbox version retains the core mechanics of the PC edition but features a redesigned interface and control scheme optimized for console play. It also includes unlockable content and additional mini-games, such as ballroom dancing and ship upgrades.

Sid Meier’s Pirates! was praised for its variety of gameplay systems and freedom of choice, offering a sandbox-style experience in a historical setting.
