Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc is a 3D platform game in which players guide Rayman on a quest to stop the Black Lum André and the Hoodlums after a mishap involving Rayman’s friend Globox. The game progresses through themed stages connected by story sequences, combining traversal challenges, combat encounters, and light puzzle-solving across colorful environments.

Core mechanics mix acrobatic movement with close-range combat and ranged attacks from Rayman’s extendable fists. Temporary power-ups grant situational abilities—such as enhanced striking power, limited flight, grappling, or remote-controlled projectiles—that are used to open routes, defeat specific enemy types, or interact with level machinery. Enemy behavior and hazards encourage timing and pattern recognition rather than brute force.

An arcade-style scoring system underpins level design. Chaining actions into combos increases the score and can unlock extras, encouraging replay of completed areas to optimize paths and mastery of enemy waves. Collectibles and hidden areas reward exploration and support gradual skill progression without altering the main story structure.

On PC, the game offers single-player content parity with the console releases and supports keyboard/mouse or gamepad control schemes. Multiplayer features that appeared in certain console editions are not present on PC. Otherwise, the campaign structure, levels, and narrative remain consistent with the broader release.
