Requiem: Avenging Angel is a first-person shooter set in a dark, futuristic world where Earth is caught in a conflict between Heaven and Hell. The player takes the role of Malachi, an angel sent to Earth to prevent the forces of Hell from conquering humanity. The story blends traditional sci-fi and biblical themes, with gameplay combining standard FPS mechanics and unique supernatural powers inspired by angelic abilities.

The game offers two distinct sets of abilities: conventional firearms and a range of “miracle” powers. These powers allow the player to perform feats such as walking on water, turning enemies into pillars of salt, and even possessing their bodies. This mix of weapon-based combat and supernatural skills distinguishes Requiem from more conventional shooters of the late 1990s.

Level design ranges from urban cityscapes to surreal heavenly and hellish realms, often requiring the player to use both platforming skills and combat strategies. The single-player campaign is the primary mode, with the narrative unfolding through in-game dialogue and scripted sequences. The game engine supports 3D environments with colored lighting, dynamic effects, and atmospheric music to enhance immersion.
